The senior secondary students at our school always go on a short trip at the start of the year to establish relations with one another and engage in some team-building activities together. On this IB retreat, the students from Years 11 and 12 spend time together in order to help each other out and give each other advice about the IB. This year, our IB retreat took place at Bondi Beach, where we spent a day working with The Great Race organisation on a fun scavenger hunt around the Bondi area, collecting clues and doing small activities. We went along the Bondi to Bronte walk, and had a picnic lunch at Bronte to finish off the day.
On Tuesday, we returned to school, where we worked with our class teachers, and had a workshop by Tomorrow Man/Tomorrow Woman, who talked to us about our future, and invited us to share stories of struggles, or people who inspire us.
It was a very productive day and a great way to get to know each other and get used to working together. – Kimberley Pratt, Year 11
