Volleyball is our Australian beach sport. Our Aussie soils are full of volleyball legends and volleyball lovers. All the way from Sporting Australia, an NSW state volleyball player, Janelle McKay came to teach some of her knowledge to the Year 7A class at the German International School.

We started the session off with some warmups. We jogged on the spot and did forward and side lunges. Once we were all warmed up Janelle explained the rules and showed us digging and setting, which is how we hit the ball. Either with our palms or with our hands.

We split up into pairs of two and started practising. Finally, we played a game. It was 7 vs 7 and the game was tight. We used our newly learned skills to accomplish a very impressive volleyball game.

In the end we had a lot of fun and learnt a lot. We can’t wait for our next session. We would like to give a special thanks to Janelle for helping us improve our volleyball skills. - Zoe S, 7A

A big thank you to Herrn Pfannenmüller for organising Janelle's visit and to Sporting Australia for supporting GISS.
