UPP WORKSHOPS YEARS 5 TO 10

On Tuesday, 2nd May, the team from UPP (Unleashing Personal Potential) were on campus again delivering fun and interactive workshops, which support our GISS wellbeing curriculum for Years 5 to10.

The workshops this term, built on from targeted sessions delivered by UPP last year and which ultimately form part of a series of impact sessions covering the following topics.

GROWTH MINDSET AND NEUROPLASTICITY
Understanding the remarkable power of the human brain, neuroplasticity and assessing our own mindsets
GRIT
Using an evidence-based goal setting processes and learning from failures in order to foster perseverance and passion toward reaching our goals

MATES THAT COUNT
Focusing on "rising by lifting others" and active listening, in order to build authentic friendships.

AN INTRODUCTION TO WELLBEING WITH PERMAH
Outlining six elements of wellbeing and discovering ways to enhance our own wellbeing.

LEADERSHIP IS INFLUENCE
Everyday leadership by example, service and action.

DIFFERENT LEADERSHIP STRENGTHS
Three types of leaders (prophet, planner, people). Helping to understand our strengths, and those of others in order to achieve synergy.

THE POWER OF TEAM
Working together in groups to complete activities and achieve objectives, while learning and applying UPP's ASPIRE framework (Action, Service, Persistence, Influence, Respect and Encouragement).

During pastoral time, class teachers will revisit these topics with structured lesson modules and classroom discussions in order to facilitate and foster connections and deeper understanding. - Nicola Hartley
