After three long years, on Saturday we hosted our traditional Football Tournament for Year 3 to Year 6 students in our gym and on the futsal field. Our guests came from John Colet School, Alexander Primary School (Armenian School) and the Japanese School.

Our Year 11 students have once again done extremely well. It was great to see how Lara, Ida, Jonas, Lucas, Max, Linus, Felix and Florian dealt with the highly motivated players and their extremely nervous parents.

Our Year 3/4 students and Year 5 students did well too. Both teams won their competitions and proudly held up the winner’s trophy after the final. Well done! It must have been the new GISS jerseys that made the difference.

Thanks to Kapil and his team, nobody ran out of energy.
Thank you, Franziska, Michael and Klaus, for your support!

And there was that little dialogue overheard next to the futsal field after the final: A dad from the Japanese School:

You won today, on Thursday, 24th November, in Doha, when Germany plays Japan at the World Cup, it’s the other way round.”
It didn’t take long for our Year 5 champion to fire back:
“Keep on dreaming!”
Smiles all around. High five.
“Congrats again!”
“See ya next year.”
