Dear GISS Community,

I bring over 25 years of teaching experience at schools as diverse as Vienna International School, the British School in Tokyo, Berlin Metropolitan School, Eton College and, of course, the German International School Sydney (from 2009 to 2014). Prior to my career in education, I spent two years working as an editor for bilingual (German / English) dictionaries at Oxford University Press. My most recent role was Head of School at the International School of Navarra in northern Spain. In addition, I have been working for the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB) since 2005 as examiner, workshop leader, course developer and school evaluation leader.

Like GISS, I have a background rooted in more than one culture: I am German and Australian (and British), speak German and English fluently and am very interested in the intersection and synergy between these cultures. My main interests in education are bilingualism and intercultural competency, developing critical thinking and fostering intrinsic motivation for lifelong learning. I am delighted to draw on my experiences in diverse cultures and with different educational frameworks to find the best local solution for each educational challenge.

I am very excited to be rejoining GISS and am working closely with Thomas Szartowicz and the Leadership team to ensure a smooth handover and a flying start for the Secondary School into 2026.
