ib art students visit
art express at the art gallery of nsw

The IB Visual Arts Course with Year 11s and 12s went on a city trip to the Art Gallery of NSW to see the annual HSC Student Exhibition (Art Express). Even though, the Australian HSC Visual Arts course differs in several aspects to the IB Arts one, it still offered the students a great variety of insight and inspiration toward their own exhibitions and art-making progresses.

The themes of this year’s Student Exhibition varied from human burnouts filmed on video to urban infrastructure crossing time eras and furniture made from latex, hanging from the wall. The students found their own interests and focused on several artworks that particularly stood out to them.

The Year 11 students wandered around and found inspiration for their start in the art-making progress into the IB, whereas for the Year 12s, this museum exhibition offered ideas for them to consider how they can potentially exhibit their own work and use the space in their own exhibitions, this year in September.
