The Year 11 ceramics workshop at the North Head Artist Precinct, held over two sessions, was an inspiring and hands-on experience, offering students a unique opportunity to explore the art of clay and ceramics. Surrounded by the serene and creative environment of nature and the artist's community, students immersed themselves in crafting functional forms such as cups, plates, and bowls, building foundational skills to that will support their upcoming Year 12 studio works in 2025.

Guided by expert ceramicist, Tania Murphy, students experimented with techniques that encouraged both creativity and technical precision. From shaping raw clay to understanding glazing and the firing process, the workshop provided a comprehensive and educational introduction to ceramics. This interactive experience not only deepened students’ appreciation for the art form but also encouraged collaboration and innovation as they worked on their individual pieces.

The workshop was equally fun and enriching, allowing students to connect with their artistic practices in a relaxed yet productive setting. As they prepare for the challenges of Year 12, this experience has equipped them with valuable skills and confidence to tackle one aspect of their studio work with greater enthusiasm and creativity. - Mrs Jordi
