Our string players recently performed at the Northern Beaches Instrumental Festival at Pittwater High School, alongside nine other ensembles from the Sydney region!
After months of rehearsing and learning new skills, our talented students took to the stage and delivered outstanding performances. This festival, spanning three weeks of concerts, provides school ensembles with the invaluable opportunity to perform in public, receive constructive and inspiring feedback from an appraiser in an open workshop-type setting, and listen to other similar groups.
Our ensembles received very positive feedback, and we believe they were all really proud of themselves!

Unsere StreicherInnen sind kürzlich beim Northern Beaches Instrumental Festival an der Pittwater High School zusammen mit neun anderen Ensembles aus der Region Sydney aufgetreten.
Nach monatelangen Proben und dem Erlernen neuer Musikstücken standen unsere talentierten SchülerInnen auf der Bühne und spielten hervorragend. Dieses dreiwöchige Festival bietet Schulensembles die wertvolle Gelegenheit, öffentlich aufzutreten, in einem offenen Workshop konstruktives und inspirierendes Feedback von einem Bewerter zu erhalten und sich mit anderen ähnlichen Gruppen zu messen.
Unsere Ensembles haben sehr positive Rückmeldungen erhalten, und wir glauben, dass sie alle sehr stolz auf sich waren!
Ein großes Dankeschön geht an unsere engagierte Musiklehrerin Janine Boubbov, die unzählige Stunden damit verbracht hat, unsere SchülerInnen anzuleiten und zu unterstützen. Ihre harte Arbeit und Leidenschaft spiegeln sich immer in ihren Darbietungen wider.

Our choristers sang beautifully and represented our school with pride at the Eisteddfod at Pittwater House School this June. I am always so proud to see how our students are able to read a situation and act just the way they need to. They were so excited, but at all times respectful and gracious towards their fellow competitors, and they took their best concert manners with them
A big thank you to Klemens, Rikky and Barbara Riegger for coming along to help (and taking photos - thank you, Rikky!), as well as our pianist Valerie Forbes-Mavridis , who was a superstar as always.
The Junior and Senior Choirs were Awesome
63 Students sang at the Northern Beaches Eisteddfod last week
The choirs received very positive and constructive feedback from the adjudicator, and despite being briefed beforehand about not focussing on prizes, they were happy to go home with a third place (Senior Choir) and second place (Junior Choir) as an added bonus.

After taking Term 1 to learn the fundamentals of their new instruments, students were delighted to begin rehearsing in our brand new GISS Concert Band, early in Term 2. Their inaugural performance at the Primary Assembly on Thursday 20th June was a great success and we look forward to seeing the band grow and flourish during the months to come – and many of our current Year 2 students are already looking forward to the opportunity to take up a new instrument in 2025!
